We race almost every Sunday between March and October, members boats including several Flying Fifteens,
Lasers,Wayfarer, Dart, and Enterprise as well as a few sailing cruisers and a Gaff Cutter.
We have a small number of sail-boarders We welcome casual and organised visitors have hosted the CVRDA during the last
4 summers and the OGA trailer section last year.
Members safety is always and at all times their own responsibility. It is a rule of the club that bouyancy aids must always be worn, on the jetty and on the lake.
The Club has 2 RIB safety boats, in contact with the ODA on-shore, manned by trained sailors on race days. We provide training, both introductory familiarisation and a full day’s training in good practice - information here
On other days members are encouraged never to sail alone - winds can come up quite strongly - gusting can turn a calm idyllic lake into something quite different very quickly. When the safety boat is not available members are encouraged to get together as a group and make their own arrangements, in line with club rules
Members are warned that mobile phones cannot be relied on at the club or on the lake - the clubhouse has a landline payphone ( 01686 412631 ) This is not an enquiry line for club information
At the beginning and end of the season we have working party weekends to prepare for sailing and clear away afterwards. These are fun and also social events in their own right.
We have 2 small camping areas, available to members and visitors at a small charge - details are on the club noticeboard
We encourage members to participate in the running of the club - we post
minutes of the club meetings on the notice board. Members interested in
committee membership are welcomed.
Dogs may be brought to the club, but it is a club bye-law and a requirement of the terms of our lease from our landlords, Severn Trent Water, that they are kept on a leash at all times
It is also a requirement of the lease that boats must not be brought to the club from water known to have fish disease. Visitors should declare the last water visited when they sign the visitors book
